Survivor Samoa Was NOTHING Without Russell

I'll say it up front: Russell should have won Survivor Samoa. Is there any question? Natalie did NOTHING during the season but ride his coattails. All those idols Russell found. My kids and I tuned into Survivor Samoa each week for one reason - to watch Russell outwit, outlast, outplay he other people. I hesitate to call those other people "players" because most of them hardly played the game. Oy.

Oh, Tiger

The fallout from the alleged Tiger Woods affair reached a boiling point the other day, with Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik calling Woods out and saying he's not much of man. Yet today, the Tiger and Elin watch is eerily quiet. Did Woods pay everyone and his brother's cocktail waitress (i.e. mistress) to shut up? Yahoo's front page has barely chirped a tweet about the Tiger Wood car accident that turned into a bashed window, courtesy of his wife, and his admissions of transgressions. What gives? Eery silence after days of rumors is just plain weird.

Jon and Kate Gosselin's divorce thrust single parents into the news this summer. But there are plenty of single parents in the news, and some single parenting resources coming to the fore. Clive Owen has a single parents movie, The Boys are Back. Sarah Palin is going rogue with a book tour, and her teen daughter Bristol is a single mom after her split with Levi. Younger woman, Older man

When you're a middle aged man, there's something incredibly sexy about dating a younger woman. Older men younger women relationships have been around for ages. The men are often stable and want to take care of someone who appreciates all they do. Older women sometimes forget that. They want to control and manipulate the man. I'm not saying a younger woman won't do the same, but the older guy may not care as much. He's secure and confident, and in charge. Maybe not the healthiest relationship for a younger woman and an older man to be together, especially if he has kids her age. But it can work.

George Lopez is funny!

I have Tivo, and my kids have set it up to record every episode of the George Lopez show ever made. You know what? George Lopez is funny! I never watched the show before now. I crack up every time. It's totally politically incorrect, and that's half the fun. As for my kids, the show's humor is a little edgy, pushing the boundaries with my 13 year old. But I figure I'd rather he hear it with me in the room, than hear it from his friends. George Lopez rocks!

Sunday night sex

Sunday night sex is the best way to cap off a great weekend. Especially if you're a single guy and not living with a girlfriend or wife. I happen to think most people who are coupled up and living together take it for granted that they have a built-in bed buddy like that. I don't have to be dating Scarlett Johansson or Jessica Biel. Next girlfriend I get, you can bet we'll be spooning as much as possible. Especially on Sunday nights.

Getting along with an ex after divorce

When you get divorced, there can be lots of anger and even hatred toward an ex-spouse. That's not good for raising children. Best if you and your ex can get along well enough to at least put the interests of the children first. Here are some great co-parenting tips from a single dad.

I watched AC Milan play Marseilles in Champions League soccer. They played in the pouring rain. How fun! Made me think back to when I was a kid. Nothing like getting soaked to the bone while you're playing a sport you love.

Burning

Burning man is coming up soon. Ever been? I haven't made the trek, but friends have. All say it's great. Seems a bit out there to me, but whatever. Everyone goes out into the desert, and they make a community that lasts for a short while before it ends. Lots of drugs, dancing, people trading services. And a really big wooden man that they burn. Ticket price: $300. (I thought it was free before?)
